AEX index expands from 25 to 30 funds

22 September 2025

Following the announcement on 11 March, the latest rebalancing of the Amsterdam market indices is taking place today. Most notably, the AEX index is expanding from 25 to 30 listed companies. The five largest funds from the Midkap Index (AMX) are moving up to the main index: investment firm CVC, property fund WDP, parcel delivery company InPost, meal delivery service Just Eat Takeaway and coffee company JDE Peet’s. For the latter two, however, the promotion will only be temporary, as takeover processes are currently underway.

The Midkap Index, meanwhile, will continue to comprise 25 funds. The five largest funds from the Small Cap Index (AScX) are moving up to the AMX as of today: metals company AMG, trading firm Flow Traders, investment fund HAL Trust, marketing agency Havas and pharmaceutical company Pharming. As a result, the AScX will now comprise 20 funds instead of 25 and will be renamed the Amsterdam Next 20.

With this reorganisation, Euronext aims to make the Amsterdam Exchange more attractive to companies and investors. The expansion is also intended to increase the amount of capital invested in the AEX by index-tracking funds.
